This is how the ride started for me
First time I saw her underside view
14 60kphers on 12 bikes went for a weekender (July 19-20, 2008) to Bisalpur.
Bisalpr is about 450 km from Delhi, a 5 km diversion on Tonk-Swai Madhopur highway in Rajasthan.
More later. |

It was good that meeting point was shifted much beyond Delhi borders, for at Manesar the locals had blocked the NH causing a five km long jam.
Under any such given situation, bike score better. Zigzagging our way through stranded traffic, somehow everyone made it through. While I was just about to clear the last trailer, for some idiotic reasons it moved slightly brushing the panniers. The moist soft soil quickly gave away and I went flying down about 12 feet, landing softly on the thick undergrowth. (first picture). A concerned passerby helped me come out. Meanwhile traffic had started moving and with it any help I could get to pull the bike out was gone.
I wasn’t sure if others had cleared the jam and moved on. So made myself comfortable and smoked waiting for don’t know what.
Another 10 minutes, Rajdeep and Jaipreet came over and helped me get the bike out and we made it to our regular meeting joint, Samrat Hotel. The group assembled here.
I was the tail with Sobby Somewhere beyond Rewari he fell in love with the place and decided to open a branch of his notorious workshop His tool box was out in a jiffy – open this and that, a punch here and a kick there, loosened and tightened everything and after 15 minutes was satisfied with his marksmanship Mauka hum bhi nahi chortay
Rajasthan is lush green during monsoons and I was liking the countryside as it passed.
Life was easy so long as we moved, but heat and humidity as the day progressed was a killer. Made it to Jaipur in good time. A quick lunch and we cleared the city taking the Tonk-Swai Madhopur highway.
This is the only dhabha we could find. The tortured folks

Few km. before Tonk we were to turn right for Swai Madhopur. Somehow Sobby and I got separated from the group and from Sanjeli(?) turned right for Jhirna (20 km). This route though metalled was full of potholes and was a bit less than four wheels. Stuck behind a truck or tractor for a while, even that friendly mirror at home would fail to recognize you From Jhirna we took left for Bisalpur (35 km).
10 km. before Bisalpur the countryside switched over to lush green hills (Aravalis) and dense jungles with exciting dirt-tracks. Wish we had more time to explore the area. Our initial reaction on first view of lake was of having reached some coastal area. It was unbelievably large with an island and the other shore going beyond horizon. Our aim was to camp on that island.
A temple, pump house and 3 tea shops is Bisalpur, but this area is blessed with nature’s bounties and is not to be missed. If you are looking for comforts of a hotel, this place is not for you. Camping is the only choice and should be done without any reservation.
Over endless cups of tea, jokes and what not, both of us waited for the main group to join us.

Meanwhile these guys were having fun all the way, while we tried to work out with the fishermen to take us to that island.
It just didn’t work out and quickly we settled in the courtyard of temple ruins. I have no idea of how old are the ruins or belongs to which sect, but the structure is ideally located on the banks.
Pritam was his usual best with that honorable sigri and flavour of roasted chicken legs and kababs quickly set the mood in. Use your imagination to think of what a Asli (real) 60kph party is, while ragging of new member Saurav was in full swing. Hats off to his spirits for he was game throughout in that one hour session. Dave, a forum member from California, though missed out on the local dialect, had his bagful of fun.
Merciless time never stops……… |

Long past midnight, guys rolled out in the open, some on mats, some on whatever they could manage and few on the slab floor.
Out in the open, in the dark, below the sky is how we sleep. Believe me, barring yours truly most of the folks in pictures below are either well placed in the corporate world or own venture. Whatever, all share and belong to the 60KPH spirit. Love you guys !!!

Dawn had come in and slowly everyone came back to life. Some views
It was time for morning ritual, our way
We did this also
While coming back somewhere near Tonk, Sobby again fell in love with a place and quickly opened another branch office, culprit was Shekhar’s bike.....Mauka
This picture aptly sums up the two day experience.

Yay !! ..
No wonder you were up so early! ... Voyeur !
Anyway , for a change I loved watching a mug of myself .... sleeping !
Amazing ride. Stretched as hell though .. clicked a bit over 900 kms on the odo, and riding in the hot Rajasthan sun.
Where are the rain clouds when you need them _________________ MeTaL
